ONCE

Once upon a time, begins the fairytale.
We lived in a, land of plenty.
Full of laughter and, joy for all.
Or so we thought, was an illusion.

Hatred and bigotry had, just gone unnoticed.
The civil war left, a deep scar.
With a strong itch, to get even.
Statutes and flags were, an open reminder.

In 2016 elected president, who presented opportunity.
To finally be heard, and voice anger.
Supported by a majority, House and Senate.
Would finally be able, get their way.

Well we must stop,  before too late.
Already violence on rise, more mass shootings.
Demonstrations like in Charlottesville, graffiti on walls.
Shouting out that they, will take over.

If you’re not afraid, ought to be.
Our new leader making, fun of democracy.
It’s time for us, to speak up.
Vote our way back, out of insanity!
