“Count on it”, generally meaning. 

Usually seen as, a positive. 

But has become, more literal. 

Heart of it, ripped out. 

“For me what’s, in it?”

“Take it to, the bank!”

All about money, and prestige. 

Many “wanna be’s”, took action. 

Voted in president, that represents. 

Would be at, their expense. 

With lies and, broken promises. 

Yet the base, hangs in. 

Like him they, definitely are. 

Full of ego, and hate. 

“Better” than many, out there. 

Polluting the soil, walk on. 

Democracy and nature, in uproar. 

With loud voice, crying out. 

Is anyone listening, out there?

This nation needs, heart transplant. 

Back to its, original purpose. 

Land of brave, and free. 

Open arms to, those oppressed. 

Lost essence of, who are. 

Becoming like countries, fought against. 

Holding up in, high esteem. 

Tearing down our, very friends. 

In the name, of economy. 

One where rich, get richer. 

And middle class, slowly disappears. 

All alone and, quite vulnerable. 

Get back on, right track. 

Are we ready, to vote?

If not, go, get registered. 

Before that right, taken away. 

 Still have power, change course. 

Bring back harmony, and peace. 

Where education is, for all. 

High as want, to go. 

Keep open diversity, and intelligence. 

Our nation enhanced, with it. 

Think of all, the children. 

The world leave, to them. 

With selfies we’re, more selfish. 

Can’t see beyond, the “I”. 

Individual has become, whole picture. 

Excluding nature and, all others. 

Social media has, isolated us. 

Believing more “connected”, but not. 

Time embrace surroundings, those near. 

Not “unknown friends”, never met.

Today’s picture is, very depressing. 

Let us broaden, our perspective.

Keep protecting our, national parks.

Bring back air, can breathe.

Get back to, simpler, life. 

Where beauty of, soul appreciated. 

Which takes TIME, and EFFORT.
