LIES are the bricks that,

holds self prisoner. 

Mortar of deceit and blame,

hardens the heart. 

Sets a deadly trap when,

outweighs the truth. 

Eventual downfall as others believe,

refuse to question. 

When did we stop thinking,

not even blinking?

When selfies, what we ate,

became the news?

Technology used to mean enlightenment,

how to improve. 

Has quickly “dumbed us down”,

stage of fools. 

Face to face encounters, where,

are they now?

Overdeveloped and underachieved nation,

what world sees. 

Can not take criticism anymore,

need to win. 

At the expense of others,

heartless and cruel. 

Where’s Florence Nightengale of old,

or Mother Theresa?

They set examples to emulate,

not about themselves. 

Even amongst friends, talking to,

someone “out there”. 

Thinking “know them”, really don’t,

could be anyone. 

Society of me me me,

downtrodden the we. 

Watching reality shows as if,

would really happen. 

Once again voted for change,

something totally different. 

It’s new reality show, called,

“Democracy, you’re fired!”
