AWAKE to the suffering all around,

even your own. 

There are bullies everywhere we look,

picking on vulnerable. 

Why is it few speaking out,

cruelty becoming norm?

Hypocrisy reigns over us, in order,

get what want. 

Speaking of being great once again,

were we ever?

A nation seeking equality for all, 

still to obtain. 

On “paper” given to blacks, women

and the immigrant. 

These groups are still discriminated against,

leaders won’t admit. 

Still pretending doesn’t exist, as “capitalism”,

replaces true democracy. 

Government meant to protect the people,

to honestly represent. 

“Not” a “business” to “profit” from,

and reap millions. 

Wake up, wake up, wake up,

before too late. 

The foundation of nation is crumbling,

quickly falling apart. 

We will bring the bullies down,

by setting example. 

Every act of kindness glues together,

puts to shame. 

Rise up, rise up, rise up,

gain respect again. 

Those who fought battle once before,

have left imprint. 

Rosa Parks, Bayard Rustin, and Martin 

Luther King Jr. 

Gloria Steinem, Ruth Ginsburg,

and Aretha Franklin. 

Many led way, let us follow,

in their footsteps!
